The episode Pickleball is the 12th episode of the third season of the comedy series Tacoma FD. The show revolves around a group of firefighters who are stationed at a fire department in Tacoma, Washington. The episode centers around the sport of pickleball, which is quickly growing in popularity among the firefighters.
As the episode begins, we see the firefighters playing a game of pickleball on a makeshift court in the fire station. The game is being played between the two teams, and tensions are running high as both teams are determined to win. During the game, the firefighters get increasingly competitive, and the game starts to get aggressive. One of the firefighters, Eddie, accidentally hits another firefighter, Andy, with the ball, causing him to fall and hurt his ankle.
Realizing that Andy's injury is serious, the firefighters decide to take him to the hospital immediately. However, they are in the middle of a game and cannot leave until the game is over. They decide to continue playing the game, but in a more cautious manner, with the injured Andy sitting out. However, as they continue to play, things take a turn for the worse.
One of the firefighters, Terry, hits a ball that goes flying and lands in the grill of a nearby car. As they try to retrieve the ball, they accidentally set the car on fire. The firefighters then spring into action, attempting to put out the fire with their equipment and tools. However, their efforts are not successful, and the fire eventually spreads to another car, creating chaos in the fire station.
As the firefighters struggle to put out the flames, they come up with creative solutions to try and stop the fire from spreading further. They use their equipment, such as hoses and axes, to cut off the fuel source and contain the fire. However, their efforts are not enough, and the fire continues to grow.
Just when it seems that all hope is lost, one of the firefighters, Captain Penisi, comes up with a plan to stop the fire. He suggests using the sport of pickleball to put out the flames. He explains that they can use the balls to hit the flames and create a vacuum effect, which will eventually put out the fire.
The firefighters are skeptical at first, but they decide to give it a try. They start hitting balls at the flames, and to their surprise, it works! The flames gradually begin to die down, and the fire is eventually extinguished. The firefighters celebrate their victory, and Andy's ankle is also treated successfully at the hospital.
In the end, the firefighters realize the importance of teamwork and working together. They also learn the lesson that sometimes, the most unconventional solutions can be the most effective. The episode ends with the firefighters playing a game of pickleball, but this time, with a newfound appreciation for the sport and the skills it requires.
