Chise is at the Nevin's house, treating the last big wounds she had when she fought Cartaphilus. She leaves the patient's room to take a breather and have more insight about what's happening within herself due to the dealings with Cartaphilus and the faeries. She sits on a bench, where Nevin joins her for small talk. Elias arrives, and after Nevin leaves, he confesses his mistake for letting Cartaphilus meet Chise. Chise listens carefully and reminds him that she's already involved in his mess and that they should solve it together.
They then go to the St. George's church to meet with the alchemist Renfred who intends to carry out an experiment on Chise to make a chimera (a mixture of different creatures). Elias is conflicted with Renfred's proposal, but Chise is willing to undergo whatever experiment she needs to so that she can be of help to Elias and the faeries. Renfred prepares the procedure, and as he begins his experiment, the church starts shaking, and he's forced to stop midway.
Outside, the church is surrounded by hundreds of faeries. They had come to claim the church grounds and everything in it since it had been abandoned for a long time. Renfred and Titania bicker about who has the right to take the land, and after a while, they realize the core of their argument is due to the fact that they are both lonely and crave companionship. Chise is moved by their conversation and suggests that Renfred borrow Ulysse's staff to summon a firefly of his own.
Elias and Chise then leave the church to go visit Angelica in the hospital. Angelica had requested to see them, and when they arrive, she hands them a letter written in ancient letters. They manage to translate some of the text, which holds information about the origin of Chise's power and Cartaphilus' goal.
They then leave the hospital and on their way home, the two are approached by a young man named Matthew, who claims to be part of the same members association as Elias and Lindel. He tries to convince Elias to reveal some information about Cartaphilus's location, but Elias walks away rudely.
The episode ends with Chise and Elias finally discussing some of their deepest fears and emotions regarding the ways they treat each other. They vow to start trusting each other and try to solve their problems as a team.
