The Casagrandes is an American animated television series and is a spinoff of the show "The Loud House." The show follows a multigenerational Mexican-American family, as they navigate daily life in the city. In season 3, episode 5, titled "The Kid Plays in the Picture / Achy Breaky Art," we see the Casagrande family in two different scenarios.
In the first half of the episode, "The Kid Plays in the Picture," Ronnie Anne and her friends are putting together a school project, a cardboard box fort. However, Ronnie Anne's younger brother, Bobby, accidentally destroys it, causing Ronnie Anne to angrily yell at him. Feeling upset, Bobby retreats to his room and falls asleep, dreaming of the movie "Space Walkers." In his dream, he imagines himself as an astronaut, exploring a far-off planet. As he plays and explores, he stumbles upon a group of aliens who invite him to play with them. His happiness is short-lived, however, when he wakes up to find that Ronnie Anne has destroyed his cardboard spaceship. He calls her a "space monster" and runs away.
As Ronnie Anne tries to figure out what she's done wrong, she realizes that she needs to appreciate her brother more and respect the things he loves. She apologizes to him and helps him rebuild his cardboard fort. The two siblings bond over the project and Ronnie Anne learns the importance of spending quality time with her family.
In the second half of the episode, "Achy Breaky Art," Frida Puga Casagrande, Ronnie Anne's aunt, invites the family to an art show at her gallery. Everyone in the family is excited to go, except for Bobby, who is dreading it. He has been forced to attend art shows before and found them incredibly boring.
At the art show, the family is impressed by the artwork on display and all take turns posing for pictures in front of the works they like. However, Bobby, who has been bored out of his mind, takes things too far and accidentally damages a piece of art with his skateboard. Embarrassed and ashamed, he runs away.
Ronnie Anne and her family search the city to find Bobby and ultimately find him at a public skate park. He tells them he's not interested in art and wants to pursue his passion for skateboarding. The family understands and decides to make a compromise with Bobby. They commission him to create a mural for Frida's gallery that incorporates his love for skateboarding. Bobby agrees and creates a stunning mural that reflects both his artistic abilities and interests.
The episode ends with the family coming together to admire Bobby's artwork. Ronnie Anne says that she is proud of the "hybrid" piece and that she thinks it will inspire others to pursue their passions and find common ground with their loved ones.
Overall, "The Kid Plays in the Picture / Achy Breaky Art" focuses on unique aspects of family dynamics and how family members can support and appreciate each other's passions and interests. The episode is a heartwarming reminder that family is essential, and it's important to love and respect each other, no matter what.
