The Inside Job is an American home improvement show that premiered on DIY Network in 2007. The show is hosted by Carter Oosterhouse who guides homeowners through renovations that increase the value of their homes. Carter is an experienced carpenter and designer whose main goal on the show is to help homeowners create their dream spaces while staying within their budgets.

The show typically begins with Carter meeting the homeowners and discussing their goals for the renovation. Carter then examines the space that needs to be renovated, taking into account the homeowners' personal style and the overall look of the home. He provides suggestions and recommendations for materials and design, while also factoring in the current market trends and popular styles.

The Inside Job is unique in that it involves the homeowners in every stage of the renovation process. This hands-on approach allows them to learn and understand the different aspects of home improvement, making it easier for them to make decisions and take future projects into their own hands. Carter provides the homeowners with the necessary tools and knowledge to take on DIY projects themselves, either in the current renovation or future ones.

The show often covers different types of renovation projects including kitchen and bathroom remodels, attic conversions, basement finishing, and outdoor additions. Each episode follows the same basic structure: the initial meeting with the homeowners, demolition and construction, installing fixtures and finishes, and the final reveal of the newly renovated space.

One of the standout features of The Inside Job is its focus on sustainability and eco-friendliness. Carter incorporates environmentally-friendly materials and practices into each renovation, showing viewers how they can make their homes more eco-conscious without sacrificing style. This is particularly important in today's society where climate change is a growing concern.

In addition to the renovation process, The Inside Job also emphasizes the importance of teamwork and community. Carter often brings in local contractors and service providers to help with the renovation, creating a network of professionals and resources. This not only helps the homeowners but also fosters a sense of community and support.

Overall, The Inside Job is a fun and informative show that provides viewers with practical tips and inspiration for home improvement projects. Carter Oosterhouse's expertise and charismatic personality make the show an enjoyable watch, while the hands-on approach and focus on sustainability make it a valuable resource for homeowners looking to improve their living spaces.

September 14, 2016
Jason and his crew tackle an outdated 1970's house that is a complete gut job. With a cramped layout and a dark, claustrophobic formica filled kitchen, the house gets a complete transformation. By literally raising the roof with 12 foot beamed ceilings, they give the home a spacious open floor plan that includes a large center island, marble countertops, hand crafted barn door accents and a bright refinished fireplace anchored by a reclaimed wood mantle.
