Welcome to Ex-Files is the seventh episode of the fourth season of the American sitcom, The Neighborhood. The series follows the lives of a young couple, Dave and Gemma Johnson, who move from Michigan to California with their son, Grover, and encounter cultural differences with their new neighbors.
In this episode, tensions are high when Calvin and Tina's ex-partners show up unexpectedly at their home, preparing to attend Grover's birthday party. Calvin's ex-wife, Lori, and Tina's ex-boyfriend, Henry, arrive uninvited and bring along their new partners, resulting in awkwardness and discomfort for everyone.
The two exes have a history of causing chaos in Calvin and Tina's relationship. Lori is nosy and judgmental, while Henry is competitive and manipulative. Both of them take the opportunity to insult Calvin and Tina's parenting skills and try to one-up each other, much to the annoyance of the other guests.
Meanwhile, Dave is struggling to find the perfect gift for Grover's birthday, as he is determined to outdo Tina and Calvin's extravagant present. He turns to Marty and Malcolm for advice but ultimately decides to go with his gut and surprise Grover with a gift that he knows he'll love.
As the birthday party continues, tensions escalate between Lori and Henry, and Calvin and Tina are forced to intervene. They remind their exes that the day is supposed to be about their son, and they need to put their differences aside for Grover's sake. It takes a bit of coaxing, but eventually, Lori and Henry begrudgingly follow Calvin and Tina's lead.
Towards the end of the episode, everyone is dancing and having a good time, and the party is a huge success. Calvin and Tina thank Dave for being a great friend and for always being there for them. They also express gratitude for their blended family, including their exes and their current partners.
