Ep 2. Episode 2

Detective Inspector Gabriel receives a call from his dead partner's widow, Claire Toomey. She claims to have some information about the mysterious case before our Detective Inspector. Gabriel visits Claire and receives two pieces of information— the first is about an informer named "Antony" who knew who killed his partner, and the second is about the victim's last conversation with someone named Glickman. The second piece throws Gabriel off balance, as Glickman was another detective, one whom he considered a friend. He decides to investigate Antony's claims since he's the only lead he has.

Meanwhile, Joseph Bede, an importer of drugs, receives a call from his associate Maurice Crace, who complains about his unsettled accounts. Joseph discovers that Jay Wratten, his ex-partner, is the one who took over Maurice's territory and created a perpetual problem for them. Joseph tries to make amends with Jay to avoid a war, but Jay refuses and insinuates that there is a mole within his organization.

In another part of town, a man named Tollman is found dead. Gabriel and his team investigate the crime scene and discover that Tollman was seen with Glickman a few hours before his death. Gabriel concludes that Glickman was responsible for Tollman's death. He searches Glickman's home and comes across a drawing of an eye hidden within an elaborate pattern.

Later, Gabriel visits his psychiatrist and shares his concerns— he fears that Glickman was involved in illegal activities and his partner was somehow involved too. With these suspicions, Gabriel asks his team to investigate Wratten’s turf war, and they discover that he’s been getting drugs from Bede's import company and selling them for his own gain.

As Gabriel continues his investigations, Joseph and Jay meet to resolve their differences. Jay tells Joseph that he has seen the drawing of the eye before and suggests that Joseph should investigate Glickman's past and the meaning behind the drawing. Gabriel, on the other hand, speaks to Antony, who tells him about who killed his partner. Gabriel trusts Antony's testimony and prepares to arrest the killer.

In the last few minutes of the episode, Gabriel and his team are ready to make their arrests, and Jay asks for a meeting with Bede to discuss the mole in his organization. Gabriel confronts the killer and realizes the true motive behind his partner's death. Meanwhile, Bede and Jay’s meeting goes awry, and Gabriel's suspicions of a mole in Bede's organization are confirmed as Bede's men are targeted.

The second episode of The Shadow Line is intense, filled with action and suspense. It nicely builds on the foundations introduced in the first episode and sets up the pace for the upcoming episodes. We see Gabriel's dilemma and how he tries to solve the murder case while dealing with personal issues, ultimately leading to a revelation that will have a significant impact on the overall plot.
