Ep 2. We Are the End of the World

We Are the End of the World is the second episode of the tenth season of The Walking Dead. In this episode, the focus is on the Whisperers, a group of survivors who wear the skins of the dead to blend in with walkers and live among them. The Whisperers are led by Alpha, and her second in command is a woman named Beta.

The episode takes place in two separate timelines: the current timeline, and a flashback to over a decade ago, when Alpha and Lydia (her daughter) first joined the Whisperers. In the current timeline, Alpha and Beta lead a group of their people on a mission to gather supplies in an abandoned hospital. They encounter a group of walkers, and one of the Whisperers is injured in the ensuing fight.

Meanwhile, in the past timeline, we see how Alpha and Lydia came to join the Whisperers. Alpha was a mother who was desperate to protect her daughter in the early days of the apocalypse. She met a man named Marcus, who introduced her to the idea of living among the dead to avoid conflict with other survivors. Alpha and Lydia joined up with Marcus and his group, but when Marcus died, Alpha took over as the leader of their new pack.

As the current timeline and the past timeline converge, we see that Alpha is struggling with her leadership. She has lost control of her people, and Beta questions her decisions. Meanwhile, in the flashback, Alpha is starting to become more ruthless and less interested in living among the dead for survival's sake. Lydia, on the other hand, is struggling to adapt to this new way of life. She is horrified by her mother's increasingly brutal methods, and is eventually exiled from the pack after she can't bring herself to kill a baby in front of its mother.

The episode ends with Alpha and Beta returning to their camp with the injured Whisperer. Alpha takes her anger out on the Whisperer, and subsequently makes an ominous declaration about the future of their group. Meanwhile, in the flashback, we see Lydia wandering through the woods alone and scared, until she is found by a group of people who offer her help.

Overall, We Are the End of the World is an intense episode that provides a lot of insight into the Whisperers and their leaders. It's a great follow-up to the season premiere, and sets up some interesting conflicts for the rest of the season. For anyone who's a fan of The Walking Dead, it's definitely worth watching.
