The Letting Go is the second episode of the critically acclaimed series, Transparent, which follows the Pfefferman family as they navigate their personal and family lives after their patriarch, Mort, comes out as transgender and begins living as Maura.

The episode starts with Maura taking a strenuous fitness class, where she meets Davina, a fellow transgender woman who becomes a potential love interest. Meanwhile, Maura's ex-wife, Shelly, visits their children, Sarah, Josh, and Ali, and tries to convince them to come to her upcoming gala, which will feature a performance by her new husband's band. However, the children are hesitant to go, as they have their own personal problems to deal with.

Sarah, who is unhappily married to her husband Len, has an affair with her ex-girlfriend, Tammy, who happens to be the head of human resources at Sarah's workplace. Sarah's guilt over the affair causes her to become distant from her husband and her children.

Josh, who is the youngest of the siblings, is struggling to manage his music career and his relationships. He has a one-night stand with a woman he met at Maura's birthday party, but is disappointed when he finds out that she is a fan of his famous father and only slept with him because of his last name.

Ali, the black sheep of the family, is a graduate student who is struggling to find her place in the world. She attends a lecture on feminist theory and becomes fascinated by her professor, who challenges her to rethink her views on gender and identity.

As the episode progresses, the siblings are forced to confront their own personal issues and come to terms with the new reality of their family. Maura is also forced to confront her own fears and insecurities as she navigates her relationship with Davina and tries to find her place in the transgender community.

Overall, The Letting Go is a powerful and emotional episode that explores the complexities of family relationships, gender identity, and personal growth. The performances by the cast are outstanding, and the writing is masterful in its ability to tackle sensitive topics with sensitivity and nuance.
