Divorce is a dark comedy-drama that aired on HBO from 2016 to 2019, starring Sarah Jessica Parker as Frances, a woman going through a painful divorce from her husband Robert, played by Thomas Haden Church. The show follows the couple and their friends as they navigate the complications of ending a long-term marriage.

At the beginning of the show, Frances seems to have everything she wants - a successful career, two children, and a beautiful home in the suburbs of New York City. But something is missing, and she starts to question whether her marriage to Robert, a complacent and emotionally distant man, is really what she wants. When she discovers that he has been having an affair, she decides to end it.

The show explores the fallout from her decision, as Frances and Robert struggle to divide their possessions, figure out custody of their children, and deal with the emotional repercussions of their separation. Along the way, they are supported and sometimes hindered by their friends, including Julian (Jemaine Clement), a financially struggling actor, and Diane (Molly Shannon), a quirky but supportive friend who is going through her own marital problems. Dallas (Talia Balsam), Robert's new girlfriend, also plays a prominent role in the show, as Frances struggles to come to terms with the fact that the man she thought she knew has moved on so quickly.

What sets Divorce apart from other shows about marital breakdowns is its focus on the little moments that make up the experience - the awkward conversations, the uncomfortable silences, the painful realizations. The show doesn't shy away from the messiness of divorce and uses its dark humor to highlight just how absurd it all can be. The performances of the cast are particularly impressive in this regard, with Sarah Jessica Parker bringing depth and nuance to her portrayal of a woman clinging to her own sense of self as her life falls apart.

Overall, Divorce is a poignant and sometimes painful look at what it means to extricate yourself from a life that you once thought was perfect. It never shies away from the difficulties of the process, but it also manages to find hope and humor in unexpected places. If you're a fan of complex character-driven dramas, this is one show that should definitely be on your radar.

Divorce is a series that is currently running and has 3 seasons (24 episodes). The series first aired on October 9, 2016.
