Underbelly is a crime-drama series that aired on Starz in 2009. The series is an updated series of the Australian version by the same name. In the series, the show is compared to the Sopranos- where in the series, the mob was involved. The show was based on the foundation of the Australian version, where's there a crime element and murders, but with a script that the American audience can relate to. After a few episodes the show had a great deal of action and violence, but didn't quite measure up as a series. Many viewers felt that the show was falling in the same cliche as hit shows such as the Sopranos and OZ. After the first season, Underbelly was canceled.
