In Vanity Fair (2018) season 1 episode 6, titled "In Which a Painter's Daughter Meets a King," viewers are taken on a journey with Becky Sharp as she finally reaches the pinnacle of her scheming ways. While all of this is happening, we also see Amelia Sedley finally confront George Osborne about his behaviour towards her. The pair ultimately reconcile, and George decides to tell his father and mother about their plans to get married.

As the episode continues, Becky attends a ball hosted by the Marquess, where she makes quite a stir. She draws the attention of all the men in attendance and is particularly sought after by the King himself, who is in attendance. The scene is filled with all the opulence and grandeur that one would expect from a high society event during that era.

After this, things take an unexpected turn as the Marquess passes away suddenly. Becky is now left without the powerful ally that she had been relying on to help her climb the social ladder. However, she decides to put her charm to good use and goes to visit the King after he expressed an interest in meeting her. She manages to charm him into granting her a favour which sets up for how things could unravel in the rest of the series.

Overall, this episode is full of intrigue, scheming and political maneuvering. Viewers will be on the edge of their seats as they watch Becky Sharp navigate her way through the social hierarchy, making calculated moves that could either make or break her. The episode also features some stand out performances from the entire cast, especially Olivia Cooke as Becky Sharp, who is proving to be a masterful manipulator and a force to be reckoned with.
