Ep 4. Mother

In the fourth episode of the fifth season of Veep, titled "Mother," Selina is dealing with a barrage of diplomatic problems. From a potential government shutdown to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, she is struggling to keep everything in order. To make matters worse, her mother is in town for her 70th birthday, and spends most of her time criticizing Selina and her staff.

Despite her personal struggles, Selina must attempt to negotiate a deal with the Chinese Vice Premier that will help to ease tensions between their two countries. However, she quickly learns that the Chinese have their own unexpected demands.

Meanwhile, Jonah is still reeling from being fired from the White House, and he seeks out Dan's help in finding a new job. He ends up working as a volunteer for a Selina Meyer fundraiser, where he becomes the center of attention for a group of high-powered donors.

As Selina struggles to balance her personal and professional life, she also must deal with the fallout from a controversial tweet by Mike. This leads to a hilarious scene where Selina and her team attempt to come up with a response to deflect attention from the tweet.

Throughout the episode, the theme of motherhood is explored, as we see Selina dealing with her own mother's criticism, and Amy dealing with her own struggles as a working mother. Even Sue gets into the mix, as we see her take on a more maternal role with her new dog.

Overall, "Mother" is a standout episode of Veep that balances humor with heart, while showcasing the show's impeccable writing and performances.
