In Veneno season 1 episode 2, titled "A Trip Back in Time", we witness the past and present of the lead character Cristina Ortiz Rodriguez, better known as La Veneno. The episode shows how La Veneno's life was before she became a famous and popular transgender icon in Spain.

The episode starts with the present-day where we see La Veneno in the hospital recovering from injuries from the previous episode's attack. However, as she recovers, we see flashbacks of her life before she became famous. We see her as young Cristina growing up in a small town in Andalusia. We see how her family and community reacted to her identifying as a woman.

We see her struggling to find herself and her identity and finding solace in the company of her school friend, Faela. She is confused about her gender identity and sexuality and feels like an outcast in her own town. We then see her move to Madrid and working as a prostitute to make ends meet.

The episode also introduces us to the character Valeria, a young aspiring journalist, who is fascinated by La Veneno's life story. Valeria seeks out La Veneno to interview her for her university thesis. Their first meeting is awkward and tense as La Veneno is not comfortable being interviewed by someone who is not a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

As the episode goes on, we see Valeria understand the importance and value of La Veneno's story and the struggles that people from the community face. The two eventually develop a friendship and trust. Valeria is then shown as the voice over for the episode as she reads the transcript of her interview with La Veneno.

The episode ends with La Veneno admitting the truth about her past to Valeria, something she had never spoken about before. We see her shedding her persona and opening up about her life, sharing her struggles and sorrows. We see a different side of La Veneno as she discusses her childhood, her family life and the specific incident which led her to move to Madrid.

In all, "A Trip Back in Time" is an emotionally charged episode that delves deeper into the life of La Veneno and the issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community. The episode is a reminder of the struggles and hardships that people from the community face, the importance of acceptance and inclusion, and the need for everyone to have their voices heard.
