VICE season 1, episode 13, titled "Crackdown in Cambodia & The Last Responders," explores two completely different stories. In the first half of the episode, the VICE team travels to Cambodia to uncover the government's increasing crackdown on freedom of speech and media suppression. The team interviews journalists and activists who have been harassed, imprisoned, and even tortured for simply trying to report the truth. They bring to light the alarming level of corruption within the government and the ways in which they have silenced the voices of their own people.

In the second half of the episode, the team focuses on the work of "The Last Responders," a group of volunteers in New York City who dedicate their time to collecting and caring for the remains of those who have died, but have no one to claim their bodies. The team follows this incredible group of people as they navigate the overwhelming and emotionally challenging task of identifying and burying the city's unclaimed dead.

Overall, VICE season 1, episode 13, highlights the harsh realities of media suppression and corruption in Cambodia, as well as the inspiring efforts of those who selflessly care for the forgotten and overlooked members of society.
