In Vintage Rehab season 1 episode 3, titled French Country Revival, the team takes on a project in a family’s 1920s home in the countryside. The homeowners have asked for their outdated kitchen to be transformed into a bright and airy space, with touches of vintage elegance throughout.

Led by contractor and designer Ally Mahon, the team begins by removing the dated cabinets and appliances, making room for the new design elements. The homeowners have a clear vision of what they want – a French country kitchen with pops of color and texture, featuring a classic farmhouse sink and a stunning white quartzite countertop.

Ally sets to work creating a design plan that will achieve this vision, starting with the addition of shiplap paneling on the kitchen island and ceiling beams to give the space a cozy, custom look. The team then adds vintage-inspired pendant lighting above the island, as well as decorative brackets and corbels to add more character.

The color palette for the kitchen is carefully chosen to include soft blues and greens, which Ally says are commonly found in French country design. She adds these colors through the tile backsplash, as well as in the new cabinetry, which has been carefully chosen to mimic the look of vintage cabinets with just a touch of modern style.

Throughout the process, Ally and her team focus on preserving the vintage charm of the 1920s home while also updating it for modern living. This is especially evident in the addition of open shelving, which displays the homeowner’s colorful collection of vintage dishware and kitchen accessories.

The highlight of the kitchen, however, is the stunning white quartzite countertop. Ally says this stone is perfect for the French country look because of its elegant, yet natural look. The countertop is large enough for plenty of food prep, as well as for hosting gatherings, which is important to the homeowners.

In addition to the kitchen renovation, the Vintage Rehab team also takes on a special project in this episode – creating a custom headboard for the homeowners’ guest bedroom. The team uses an antique wooden door that has been repurposed, adding tufted fabric for a cozy and unique look. Ally says this piece is the perfect example of how vintage pieces can be repurposed to fit modern needs.

Throughout the episode, Ally and her team also offer tips and tricks for homeowners who want to incorporate vintage elements into their own homes. From mixing patterns to repurposing old furniture, the team shows that vintage style can be modern and fresh, while still retaining its charm.

Overall, Vintage Rehab season 1 episode 3 is a beautiful example of how vintage design can be brought back to life in modern homes. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for preserving the past, Ally and her team show that vintage style is here to stay.
