Ep 5. Del

Wayne season 1 episode 5, "Del," follows Wayne and Del as they attempt to retrieve Wayne's father's stolen car from a junkyard. Along the way, they encounter obstacles that challenge their friendship and force them to confront their pasts.

The two continue their journey, but their bickering turns into a full-blown argument when they encounter a group of teenagers who steal their backpack full of money and drugs. Del accuses Wayne of being reckless and not valuing their safety, while Wayne accuses Del of being weak and not willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

As they try to retrieve their stolen goods, they encounter a man named Jim who offers to help them. Jim is a Vietnam veteran who lost his son in the war and has been living in the woods ever since. He tells Wayne and Del about his own regrets and encourages them to make the most of their youth and the opportunities they have.

Wayne and Del are able to retrieve their backpack, but they realize that their friendship has been strained to the breaking point. In a moment of vulnerability, Wayne reveals that he only cares about the stolen car because it was the last connection he had to his father, who was killed in a car accident.

The episode ends with Wayne and Del going their separate ways. Wayne continues his mission to track down his father's ex-girlfriend, while Del decides to return home and try to repair his relationship with his own father.
