In the fourth episode of the first season of Showtime's hit series Web Therapy, entitled "Public Relations," we are introduced to Fiona's ex-husband Kip Wallice for the first time. A public relations guru and father to the couple's son, Jeremy, Kip appears on the show to discuss his recent troubles.
As the episode begins, Fiona is happy to see Kip, hoping he has come to take on some of the responsibilities of raising their son. However, Kip has other intentions. He explains that he has been having some issues with his clients lately, and needs Fiona's help to resolve them. Specifically, Kip has been having a difficult time with a certain client named Heather, who is unhappy with his services and threatening to sue him.
Fiona is reluctant to get involved, but Kip convinces her to help him out by using her skills as a therapist to diagnose Heather's issues and come up with a game plan to resolve them. Fiona eventually agrees, and the two of them set up a webcam consultation with Heather.
During their conversation, Heather reveals that she is unhappy with the direction of her company and doesn't feel that Kip is doing enough to help her turn things around. Fiona jumps in and suggests that Heather might be suffering from Imposter Syndrome, a condition in which a person doubts their abilities and feels like a fraud in their professional life.
Fiona's diagnosis seems to resonate with Heather, and she agrees to continue working with Kip. However, things take a turn for the worse when Kip, feeling overconfident, decides to send Heather an email praising his own abilities and belittling her. When Fiona finds out, she is horrified and warns Kip that this is not the way to handle a client.
In the end, Fiona helps Kip make amends with Heather and salvage their professional relationship. As the episode comes to a close, Fiona reflects on her own complicated relationship with Kip and what it means for their son and their future interactions.
"Public Relations" is a fast-paced and engaging episode of Web Therapy, with excellent performances from Lisa Kudrow and Victor Garber as Fiona and Kip, respectively. The storyline is clever and well-written, with plenty of humorous moments to balance out the more serious themes. Overall, this is a great episode and a must-watch for fans of the show.
