Well-Intended Love season 2 episode 1 picks up three years after the first season. Xia Lin, a struggling actress, is now a famous superstar. She is also in a three-year-long relationship with her boyfriend, CEO Ling Yi Zhou. Ling Yi Zhou is still deeply in love with Xia Lin and has never stopped doting on her. He is trying to figure out how to propose to her, but he wants it to be a grand affair.

In the meantime, Xia Lin's former manager and ex-boyfriend, Han Ming Xuan, is still trying to make a comeback in the entertainment industry. However, his efforts have been fruitless so far. He's been kicked out of his previous company, and he doesn't have any steady income coming in. Han Ming Xuan still has feelings for Xia Lin but knows that she is now with Ling Yi Zhou. He decides to focus on his career and struggles to get a break.

In episode one, Xia Lin and Ling Yi Zhou are on their way to a charity event where Ling Yi Zhou plans to propose to Xia Lin. However, their car breaks down, and they are forced to take public transportation. As they board the train, they meet a young girl, Huo Xiao, who needs to get to the hospital to see her father. They help her along the way and make sure she gets to the hospital in time.

When they arrive at the charity event, Xia Lin proceeds to perform on stage while Ling Yi Zhou waits anxiously backstage with the engagement ring. As Xia Lin finishes her performance, Ling Yi Zhou goes to propose to her, but they are interrupted by a phone call from Han Ming Xuan. Han Ming Xuan is in trouble and needs their help.

Xia Lin and Ling Yi Zhou rush to Han Ming Xuan's house and find him unconscious on the floor. He has taken an overdose of sleeping pills. They call for an ambulance and take Han Ming Xuan to the hospital.

At the hospital, Xia Lin learns that Han Ming Xuan is suffering from anxiety and depression due to his career stalling. She decides to help him by offering him a job as her manager. Ling Yi Zhou is against this decision, knowing how dangerous it could be for them to work with Han Ming Xuan again. But Xia Lin insists, saying that he needs their help, and she doesn't want to abandon him.

As Xia Lin spends more time with Han Ming Xuan, Ling Yi Zhou begins to feel jealous and insecure. He also discovers that Han Ming Xuan still has feelings for Xia Lin, which only intensifies his jealousy.

Meanwhile, Huo Xiao's father still needs surgery, and they are struggling to come up with the funds to pay for the procedure. Xia Lin decides to hold a charity concert to raise money for the surgery. All the while, Ling Yi Zhou is struggling with his own insecurities and jealousy, and he's afraid of losing Xia Lin to Han Ming Xuan.
