As the holiday season approaches, the town of Brookfield is bustling with activity. Tess and Lillian, the two sisters who run the orphanage, are working hard to prepare for the children's Christmas party. Meanwhile, Grace, a young woman who grew up in the orphanage, returns to Brookfield with her fiance and the two begin to plan their wedding.
As the festivities get underway, tension arises when a wealthy couple arrives in town with plans to purchase the orphanage property and turn it into a luxurious hotel. Tess and Lillian are determined to fight for the orphanage's future, but they begin to realize they may not have the resources to do so.
Amidst all of the chaos, a young girl named Molly appears on the doorstep of the orphanage seeking refuge. As Tess and Lillian work to care for her, they discover she has a connection to the wealthy couple who want to buy their property.
