Middlemarch Full Episode Guide

  • Unbeknownst to him, Dr. Lydgate's wife Rosamond writes to his uncle Godwin asking for money. When Mr Raffles dies at Nicholas Bulstrode's house, Dr. Lydgate becomes implicated as an accomplice. Having returned to Middlemarch, Ladislaw declares his love for Dorothea.

  • The Lydgates' marriage grows increasingly bitter with the prospects of bankruptcy. The return of Raffles sets off a train of events that changes the lives of everyone.

  • Ladislaw vows to quit Middlemarch for good once he learns the terms of Causabon's will. Lydgate's finacial problems worsen. Fred declares his love for Mary Garth.

  • Dorothea is now a widow, but she vows never to finish Casaubon's book because of the vindictive codicile to his will. Ladislaw is out of a job.

  • Fred Vincy is anxious to know to whom Featherstone will leave his fortune. Causabon is furious when Ladislaw visits Dorothea. Lydgate and Rosamond's plans to wed move forward.

  • Causabon and Dorothea are having an uneasy honeymoon in Rome, when Causabon's restless, young cousin, Will Ladislaw, calls on them. Dr. Lydgate discovers he has enemies.

  • Dr. Tertius Lydgate is put in charge of the fever hospital in Middlemarch; Dorothea Brooke marries aging scholar Edward Casaubon and they honeymoon in Rome.
