Ep 7. A Brisket, Voodoo, and Cannonball Run

Young Sheldon season 1 episode 7 titled "A Brisket, Voodoo, and Cannonball Run" sees Sheldon's family in a festive mood, as George and Missy are getting ready for the church's Halloween carnival. Meanwhile, Sheldon is more interested in dissecting a brain than Halloween. When Connie (Sheldon's babysitter) asks Meemaw to help her make a brisket, she is initially hesitant, but eventually agrees to teach Connie her recipe. On their way to the grocery store to get the meat, Missy, and Sheldon convince Meemaw to let them ride in the back of her truck which ends up being a bad idea as they almost get into an accident.

Back home, Meemaw starts preparing her special brisket recipe while Sheldon works on his science project. Connie, on the other hand, cannot leave the brisket alone and starts adding different ingredients, including cumin and garlic, much to Meemaw's dismay. Meanwhile, Georgie is preparing for the carnival by trying to win a prize by driving his car super-fast in the parking lot. Sheldon tries to convince him that it's a bad idea and that he should concentrate on winning by obeying the rules and regulations.

As the day goes on, Meemaw and Connie are having a heated argument over the brisket, as Connie refuses to follow Meemaw's recipe. Finally, Meemaw decides to sabotage Connie's brisket by inserting a picture of a voodoo doll in the dish, which causes Connie to become increasingly frightened.

As the family gets ready to head to the carnival, everyone tries to convince Sheldon to dress in a more intimidating costume, but Sheldon explains that as scientists, their job is to embrace the truth, not to present themselves in a deceitful way. Once there, Georgie is hellbent on winning the race while Sheldon and Missy help out at their school’s booth.

As Georgie drives his final lap, he crashes right into the hay bales and falls off his car. Sheldon runs to him and finds out that his brother is fine, just a little disappointed. As the family heads back home, Sheldon realizes that he is more of a scientist than he is a little boy who likes to have fun. The episode ends with the family gathering around the table to eat Meemaw's special brisket while Missy is still dressed in her Halloween costume, much to Sheldon’s chagrin.

Overall, "A Brisket, Voodoo, and Cannonball Run" is an entertaining and engaging episode of Young Sheldon that shows the viewers the dynamics of the family and their community.
