Hard to Kill is an action film starring Steven Seagal and Kelly LeBrock. Seagal plays Mason Storm, a police detective in Los Angeles. Mason is investigating corruption, and he found proof when he shot a video of a secret meeting. Someone sees him and gives chase, but he gets away. He calls his partner and another officer, Lt O'Malley, and informs them he has proof of corruption in the police force.
Mason heads home to celebrate with his wife, but first he hides the tape. He puts it in a hole in the wall of his kitchen to keep it safe.
The celebration doesn't happen; his family is attacked by a group of corrupt officers who shoot Mason and his wife. His wife is killed, and O'Malley instructs the medics to tell everyone Mason is dead. Sonny, Mason's son, survived the attack by hiding. Mason also survived the attack but is in a coma for seven years. When he starts to rouse from the coma, the nurse calls the contact to tell them Mason is awake.
But the call to O'Malley is intercepted by one of the corrupt officers who sends someone to kill Mason. Two nurses are killed, and Andy helps Mason escape from the hospital. She takes Mason to a friend's house so he can gain strength. After being in a coma, he is weak, and his muscles have atrophied.
Mason gets the good news that his son is still alive, and O'Malley enrolled him in a private school to protect him. They arrange to meet. Mason arrives only to find that O'Malley has been killed and Sonny is being pursued by two of the corrupt officers.
Mason races to save Sonny's life and get the tape to the authorities to thwart the men who are out to kill them.
