Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal) is nothing but a cook on the U.S.S. Missouri, and although he is the captain's personal cook, he is not taken very seriously by many of the other officers. After a ceremony in Hawaii where the first President Bush presided, the final leg of the U.S.S. Missouri was underway for it to be decommissioned. Although he was expected to be at the ceremony, Ryback chose to remain in the galley, where he seemed to feel the most comfortable. Some of the officers are making plans for the Captain's surprise birthday party, which starts off with the entrance of a helicopter and a few unwelcome guests. Commander Krill (Gary Busey) has other plans for the Missouri and it involves some of the visitors getting ready to board the ship from a helicopter. What is supposed to be a rock band turns out to be mercenaries for hire, under the leadership of an ex CIA operative, William Stranix (Tommy Lee Jones). As the visitors get settled, Ryback has been confined to the meat locker by commander krill, then the shooting starts with the captain being one of the first to go, followed by most of the crew being secured down below. Krill and Stranix plan on helping themselves to the weaponry on the vessel, which they will be transferred to a sub that will be joining them. Ryback eventually manages to get away from his confined space, and proceeds to wreak havoc with Commander Krills plans, which surprised his associates, until they find out that he was a Navy seal who got busted down to rock bottom, due to an incident on the job. Erika Eleniak (Jordan Tate) was supposed to jump out of a cake for the captain's birthday party, but ended up becoming a casualty of the takeover. Andrew Davis directs this action packed adventure, which was nominated for two Oscar awards. Look for popular names like Colm Meaney (Doumer), Nick Mancuso (Tom Breaker) and Damian Chapa as Tackman.
