Ep 9. What Kate Did

As the passengers of Oceanic flight 815 continue to struggle with their situation on the mysterious and dangerous island, Kate's past comes back to haunt her in a major way in Lost season 2 episode 9, "What Kate Did."

The episode begins with a flashback to Kate's life before the crash, as she tries to make a new life for herself in a small town under an assumed identity. But her past catches up with her when her mother tracks her down and turns her in to the authorities for a crime that she committed years ago.

Back on the island, Kate's guilty conscience is weighing heavily on her, and she opens up to Jack about the crime she committed. Jack tries to reassure her that they all have secrets, but Kate's guilt continues to eat away at her.

Meanwhile, Sayid and Locke have discovered a mysterious hatch in the jungle, and they team up to try and figure out what's inside. But their exploration of the hatch is cut short when Kate appears, agitated and desperate to confess her crime to them.

As Kate tearfully tells them the details of what she did, the other survivors begin to speculate about what could have driven her to commit such a heinous act. But their speculation is cut short by a dangerous encounter with the mysterious "Others," who take one of the survivors hostage.

As the survivors frantically search for their missing comrade, Kate's guilt and shame push her to make a dangerous solo journey into the jungle. She faces her demons head-on, and finally comes to a decision about how to take responsibility for her past actions.

In the end, the survivors are reunited, but they're left with more questions than ever before. What is the mystery behind the hatch, and what secrets do the Others hold? And most importantly, how will Kate's past continue to shape her future on the island?
