Ep 3. The Foot

In Six Feet Under season 1 episode 3, titled "The Foot," the Fisher family funeral home is tasked with taking care of a unique situation. Nate is still going through a crisis in his personal life. In his grief and confusion, he enlists the help of Brenda, a woman he met at a party, to help him deal with his emotions. Ruth is not pleased by Brenda's presence in their home and warns Nate about getting involved with someone like her.

Throughout the episode, we see the Fishers struggle with various personal and professional issues. Claire, the youngest Fisher, is struggling with her photography class and her teacher's negative feedback. All the while, the Fishers are attempting to solve the mystery of the foot they are tasked with. The discovery of the foot brings the family together and forces them to confront their own mortality and what it means to live life to the fullest.
