Ep 4. Here's Not Here

The rest of the episode is spent exploring Morgan's backstory and how he came to be in the state he was when we first met him in season 1. We learn that he lost his wife and son during the early days of the apocalypse, and that he became consumed by grief and anger. He refused to kill any zombies he came across, instead choosing to keep them alive in makeshift traps.

Eventually, Morgan's refusal to kill ends up costing him when a group of humans attacks him and takes his supplies. He is left with nothing but his staff and his anger. He goes on a killing spree, taking out anyone he comes across. However, he eventually comes across a man named Duane, who reminds him that all life is precious. Duane becomes Morgan's surrogate son, and Morgan begins trying to instill his philosophy of non-violence in him.

The episode ends with Morgan returning to the present day, and we see how his time with Eastman has affected him. He is no longer consumed by anger and is trying to hold on to his belief that all life is precious, even in the dangerous world of the zombie apocalypse.
