Charlie Chaplin's last film as a director and writer, and his only one in color. Ogden Mears is the American Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, on his return trip home after touring the world the ship he is on stops in Hong Kong for the night. While docked there the beautiful Russian countess Natasha sneaks aboard and hides in his cabin. With no passport and nothing but the clothes on her back, Natasha appeals to Ogden for assistance who reluctantly agrees to help her.
