"The Missouri Breaks" is a 1976 Western about cattle rustler Tom Logan. After Tom's crew loses a friend to a hanging, they attempt to rob a train. When most of the profits are lost, Tom decides to eliminate land baron Braxton's foreman and to purchase property near Braxton's ranch in order to better rustle the man's cattle. However, Tom's men decide to ride north, across the Missouri, to steal horses from the RCMP, while Tom plants crops and begins courting Braxton's daughter. Braxton has had enough and hires Robert Clayton to handle his rustlers with a Creedmoor rifle. Clayton makes good on his employment, picking off each of Tom's men at various times and in various disguises. Clayton eventually catches onto Logan's game and taunts Braxton about the news. Although Braxton wants to cancel the contract, Clayton is dedicated enough to see things through to the end. Logan realizes that he's a marked man, especially after finally having the opportunity to deal with both Clayton and Braxton. Despite Logan's interest in Braxton's daughter, he has to leave the area for a while. "The Missouri Breaks" features Marlon Brando, Randy Quaid, and Jack Nicholson, as well as John Williams' musical score.
