The owner of the major Chicago Cubs baseball team Walter Harvey played by actor Gary Marshall puts Ira Lowerstein played by actor David Strathairn in charge of finding enough women to make up four Midwest baseball teams. The owner hires one of the former baseball players known as Jimmy Dugan, who is played by actor Tom Hanks as the team’s manager. The four teams will go by the names the Rockford Peaches, Racine Bells, Kenosha Comets, and South Bend Blue Sox’s.
