Asli Naqli is a 1986 Bollywood film which stars Shatrughan Sinha, Rajinikanth and Anita Raj in lead roles. Directed by Sudarshan Nag, the film is a family drama with romantic elements and revolves around the journey of a man who is forced to live a life of deception. The film begins with Delhi-based young man Ravi (Rajinikanth), who loses his parents at a young age and has to fend for himself. He grows up to become a performing artist, known for his singing and dancing skills. Ravi is a kind-hearted person, who has a dream of making it big in the music industry.

During one of his performances, Ravi gets acquainted with wealthy businessman Kailash Nath (Shatrughan Sinha), who is a music lover and appreciates Ravi's talent. Kailash is impressed by Ravi's skills and offers him a job as a musician in his company. Ravi accepts the offer, and starts working for Kailash.

In the meanwhile, Kailash's daughter Suman (Anita Raj) returns home after completing her studies. Suman is a strong-willed young woman who is not easily impressed by the materialistic world. She becomes fascinated with Ravi's singing and is drawn towards him.

As fate would have it, Suman and Ravi fall in love with each other. However, they soon realize that their love is forbidden, as Ravi is not of the same social status as Suman. Kailash, who is aware of their relationship, opposes their union and wants Suman to marry a man of his choice.

Kailash, who is a shrewd businessman, plans to use Ravi's talent for his own financial gains. He compels Ravi to sign a contract which states that he will work only for Kailash's company and not perform independently. Kailash's intention is to make Ravi an integral part of his business and reap profits from his talent.

Ravi, who is deeply in love with Suman, is torn between his passion for music and his love for her. He agrees to sign the contract, but continues to see Suman secretly. However, when Kailash finds out about their meetings, he becomes enraged and orders Ravi to leave his company.

Depressed and heartbroken, Ravi leaves Delhi and moves to Mumbai, where he makes a name for himself as a singer. In Mumbai, he meets a wealthy woman named Rita (Raadhika Sarathkumar), who falls in love with him and wants to marry him.

Ravi agrees to marry Rita, who is aware of his past and respects him for who he is. However, fate brings him face-to-face with his former love Suman, who is now Kailash's wife. Suman is surprised and shocked to see Ravi, and the two of them reminisce about their past.

Asli Naqli is a film about the complexities of relationships, class divide and the power of love. The movie's simple plot is augmented by strong performances by the lead actors. Rajinikanth shines as the struggling musician who is forced to make compromises in life. Shatrughan Sinha, as the wealthy businessman, is convincing in his role of a manipulative yet caring father.

Anita Raj delivers a notable performance as Suman, who is torn between her love for Ravi and her duty towards her father. Raadhika Sarathkumar, in a supporting role, adds depth to the narrative and provides a refreshing contrast to the film's central theme.

The music of Asli Naqli, composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, is a highlight of the film. The songs, written by Anand Bakshi, are melodious and soulful, and add to the poignancy of the story. The film's visuals, shot by T. S. Krishna, are aesthetic and capture the essence of the narrative beautifully.

In conclusion, Asli Naqli is a timeless Bollywood classic, with a powerful message about the power of love and the complexities of relationships. It is a must-watch film for fans of Rajinikanth, as well as those who enjoy family dramas with strong emotional underpinnings.
