Elliot Hoover was a loving father and husband until a fatal car crash took the lives of his daughter and wife. Overwhelmed with grief, he visits two psychics who tell him that his daughter has been reincarnated and living within the city. While walking one day, he notices a young girl and is convinced this is his daughter. Janice and Bill Templeton live in New York with their 11-year old daughter, Ivy. Janice has noticed a strange man that seems to be stalking her daughter. This continues and a few weeks later they confront him. He asks them to hear his story and they agree to go to lunch with him. Over lunch he explains his story and they find out that Ivy was born just two minutes after his daughter had passed on. Although they feel sympathetic to his circumstance, they refuse to let him speak or meet with Ivy. He continues to follow Ivy and tries to communicate with her and this becomes a concern of her father. He speaks with an attorney friend and he suggests that they invite Elliot over to the apartment and he will hide to hear the story and build evidence against Elliot. Elliot gladly comes over and starts to recite the story again. As soon as he speaks Audrey's name, Ivy appears from her bedroom. Immediately she starts banging her head and appears to have burns on her. Elliot calms her down but states this proves that it is his daughter reincarnated because the burns resemble the fire she was in at the time of her death. Now they must decide what to do with the revelation and what is best for Ivy.
