August is the adaptation of the play Uncle Vanya, which depicts a story set in the last decade of the 19th century. Blathwaite is an English Professor who comes back to his Welsh estate with his charming second wife, Helen. At his estate, his first wife’s brother Leuan and Dr. Lloyd fall in love with Helen while Sian becomes attracted towards Dr. Lloyd. The story portrays the hardships within the Welsh setting during that time period as Leuan becomes more disheartened towards his lack of achievement when Blathwaite returns.
