The Berlin Wall has been freshly built and has seen many family's divided in East and West Berlin. An American soldier arrives back in Berlin to find the German nurse he has fallen in love with is now trapped behind the wall. The soldier meets a bitter German engineer who fears his wife has been murdered by the Communist forces of the East. The two join forces to build a tunnel beneath the wall to rescue their loved ones in this movie based on a true story.
