This action/adventure film continues the storyline that began in the original movie about a New Year's Eve cruise ship disaster when a tidal wave rolls over and sinks The Poseidon. In this film, happening in the days immediately following the disaster, several members of a salvage crew board the upside down ship. Their salvage mission quickly turns into a rescue mission when they discover there are survivors still on board the doomed ship. But everyone's life is in danger when a rival crew of unsavory salvagers causes an explosion in order to trap and eliminate their competition.
