Murphy’s Romance is a romantic comedy about a desperate woman and her son moving to a rural town hoping to start a successful horse ranch. Emma Moriarty has been recently divorced from her husband, Bobby Jack, who ran off with a younger woman, leaving her and their son to fend for themselves. Emma and her son Jake move into a rural town and set up shop and soon meet Murphy Jones, the local pharmacist. Murphy, who has a competitive edge on Emma in that he knows everyone, begins drumming up business for her through local connections. Emma and Murphy quickly become friends, and it is apparent that something else is slowly brewing. The two, along with Jake, create a successful and profitable horse ranch and begin running it together. Just as things are going well for the ranch and for this budding romance, Bobby Jack makes a sudden and unwanted appearance. Apparently, the woman whom Bobby Jack left Emma for no longer wants him around, and consequently, he finds himself broke and without a place to stay. Reluctantly, Emma allows Bobby Jack to stay for Jake’s sake, as he claims he wants to be a good father to his son. During the days and months to come, Murphy Jones teaches Bobby Jack a set of invaluable life lessons. First, he teaches him that you never leave a good woman or your son. Next, you never mistreat a lady. And once you lose a good woman to a great man, you will not get her back, no matter how clever you think you are. Through a series of shenanigans and carefully placed insults, Murphy manages to run off Bobby Jack and his need to attempt to use Emma once again. And throughout the silliness, Emma finally drops her guard down to the much older yet wonderful man, Murphy Jones, as romance ensues.
