The romantic comedy I.Q. takes a traditional romantic comedy and gives it a little quirkiness with the addition of physicist Albert Einstein as the main character trying to push the main characters together. Ed, is an everyday man working in his car repair shop when Princeton University student Catherine brings her car to him for repair. An obvious spark is seen between the pair that is extinguished when Catherine's soon to be English husband, James, appears in the repair shop. Catherine drops her watch at Ed's shop, prompting Ed to try and return it by taking it back to the address she gave. Arriving at the house, Ed is shocked to discover Catherine's uncle is Albert Einstein, a genius who has decided one of the last acts he must complete before dying is to help Catherine find the man of her dreams. Deciding Ed is a better choice for Catherine than the stuffy James, Einstein enlists the help of a group of leading scientists in a bid to unite the couple. The plan conceived requires the scientists to turn Ed into a scientific genius and fool Catherine into giving a relationship with Ed a chance.
