Gidget is an American sitcom TV program. The program is about a father and daughter. The father Russell Lawrence is a widower and professor who is left to raise his teenage daughter Gidget. Gidget's main interests are school, boys, and the beach. One day her friend suggests they go to the beach to hang out. There she runs into a surfer; the love struck teenager falls for Moondoggie. Moondoggie has no interest in Gidget; his main interest is surfing. Gidget has no choice; she needs to learn to surf. Her instructor is "The Kahuna", who dropped out of society to become a surfer bum with no job. Kahuna built a hut on the beach, and his only friend is a pet bird. Gidget tries to make Moondoggie jealous by spending time with Kahuna, but her plan backfires. A fight ensues between Moondoggie and Kahuna, and the police are called in. Gidget gets in trouble with the police, and her father is called. Gidget is grounded, and is told she can no longer hang out with the surfers.
