Christmas In Compton is a hilarious comedy that hits all the right notes of the holiday season. Set in the community of Compton, California, the film tells the story of two brothers, Derrick (Omar Gooding) and Rodney (Eric Roberts), who run a Christmas tree lot that struggles to stay afloat due to the competition from a rival lot. Their father, Big Earl (Keith David), is a hard-working man who has dreams of owning his own nightclub, but lacks the funds to do so.

Derrick is a bit of a ladies' man who is constantly getting in trouble with his girlfriend's father, while Rodney is more reserved and focused on keeping the family business afloat. Their lives get turned upside down when a mysterious woman named Persian (Kelsey Grammer) comes to town and buys up all the Christmas trees in the area. She's a tough businesswoman who's not afraid to play dirty, and she quickly becomes the brothers' worst nightmare.

Despite their struggles, the family remains optimistic and tries to make the best of the situation. They're aided by several quirky characters, including a street-smart kid named Tiny (Eric Bell Jr.), a cheerful janitor (Luenell), and a wise pastor (Sheryl Lee Ralph) who dole out advice and encouragement.

One of the things that makes the movie stand out is its brilliant performances from its lead actors. Keith David steals almost every scene he's in with his gravitas and charm. His character is the backbone of the family and the moral center of the story. Omar Gooding is also a standout, serving as the film's comic relief with his impeccable timing and physical comedy. Eric Roberts gives a solid performance as the more serious brother, bringing depth and heart to his character.

The supporting cast is also quite strong, with Kelsey Grammer providing a memorable turn as the villainous Persian. She's a character that viewers will love to hate, but her motivations and backstory are fleshed out enough to make her more than a one-dimensional antagonist. Luenell is also a delight as the janitor who sings and dances her way through the film, injecting much-needed energy and humor into the proceedings.

Director David Raynr does a great job of capturing the spirit of Christmas and the community of Compton. He infuses the film with a lot of warmth and heart without being too saccharine. Scenes set in the tree lot are especially effective, with twinkling lights, tinsel, and a sense of camaraderie amongst the characters.

Despite being a comedy, the film deftly handles themes of family, community, and the importance of staying true to oneself. The characters are all flawed, but they always strive to do what's right and to help each other out. There are several poignant moments in the film that will tug at the heartstrings, making for a satisfying emotional payoff.

In terms of flaws, some of the jokes don't land quite as well as they could, and the pacing of the film can drag at times. Additionally, the villain's motivations could have been better explored to give her character more depth. However, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise enjoyable movie.

Overall, Christmas In Compton is a charming and fun holiday comedy that will leave viewers feeling warm and fuzzy inside. It's a movie that can be enjoyed by the whole family, and it's sure to become a seasonal favorite for many.

Christmas In Compton is a 2012 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.6.
