Countdown to Esmeralda Bay is a 1990 action-adventure movie that takes place in the beautiful coastal town of Esmeralda Bay, where millionaire businessman Albert Marnier (George Kennedy) has plans of building a major resort on a pristine piece of beachfront land that he purchased. However, his plans come crashing down when a terrorist organization hijacks a nuclear weapon and threatens to blow up the town and surrounding area if their demands are not met.

Agent Vic Cooper (Robert Forster), a rugged and seasoned veteran of the CIA, is sent in to deal with the situation. He teams up with local law enforcement officials, including Sheriff Adam Hirsch (Fernando Rey) and his daughter, Kate (Danielle Brisebois), to track down the terrorists and stop them before they can carry out their deadly mission.

As they search for the terrorists, they encounter a slew of obstacles and dangerous situations, including a deadly car chase through the winding streets of Esmeralda Bay and a tense standoff on a boat out in the open water. Along the way, Vic realizes that there may be more to the situation than meets the eye, and that the terrorists may have connections to a larger, more sinister organization.

The movie is full of adrenaline-pumping action, with plenty of explosions, shootouts, and pulse-pounding moments to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. However, amidst all the chaos and danger, there are also moments of heart and humanity, as Vic forms a bond with Kate and becomes determined to protect her and the people of Esmeralda Bay at all costs.

Robert Forster delivers a powerful performance as Agent Vic Cooper, playing the role with a quiet intensity and a steely determination that makes him a force to be reckoned with. George Kennedy is also excellent as the villainous Albert Marnier, bringing a sense of greed and arrogance to the role that makes him a compelling antagonist.

The film's action sequences are expertly executed, with director Jud Taylor demonstrating a skilled hand when it comes to crafting tense, thrilling set pieces. The movie's sound design is also impressive, with explosions and gunshots ringing out with a visceral impact that adds to the film's overall intensity.

While the film may not be the most groundbreaking or original action movie out there, it's a solidly entertaining film that delivers exactly what it promises – an exciting, pulse-pounding adventure with a cast of memorable characters and plenty of thrills and spills along the way.

Overall, Countdown to Esmeralda Bay is a fun, engaging action movie that's perfect for fans of the genre. With a talented cast, well-executed action sequences, and a compelling story, it's a film that's sure to keep audiences entertained from start to finish.
