Launched in 2009, Daybreakers is a horror action and sci-fi movie about vampire apocalypse. The movie is produced by the collaborative work of Chris Brown, Sean Furst and Bryan Furst. It stars Ethan Hawke, Claudia Karvan, Isabel Lucas, and Michael Dorman. A production budget of $20 million was used and a box office hit of $51,500,000 was collected.

In 2009, a disease caused by vampire bats have spread across the globe, wiping out nearly the entire human race as it turns people into bloodsucking vampires. People who did survive is now being pursued and harvested for their blood. 10 years later, a vampire organization sets out to maintain sufficient supply of human blood by hunting down the remainder of the human race and studying viable blood alternatives. The laboratory's lead scientist, Edward Dalton, is a vampire who regrets his transformation and silently protests against human blood harvesting.

While driving home from work, Dalton gets temporarily distracted and swerves into incoming vehicles. He runs into another car that crashes on the side of the road. Dalton immediately checks if the passengers are fine. To his surprise, the passengers of the vehicle are humans. He gets shot by an arrow by, but insists on helping them rather than surrender them to the vampire police. His offer is rejected, but their leader, Audrey, learns Dalton's name and profession from an identification card pinned on his suit.

As he arrives home from work, Dalton is surprised by his younger brother, Frankie, who is a human hunter. He brings home a bottle of pure blood to celebrate his older brother's birthday. They get into an argument and a glass of blood is spilled into the floor. A horrendous vampire who appears to have been mutated due to starvation appears from the door. It empowers the two brothers, but is later killed when cornered in the kitchen area where it smelled the blood. Police later investigate on the crime scene.

As the storyline progresses, Dalton becomes a fugitive as the vampire organization he is working for learns of his betrayal. Dalton, with the help of the humans, finds the cure to turn vampires into people again.
