Face is a British crime thriller film released in 1997. The film is directed by Antonia Bird and stars Robert Carlyle, Ray Winstone, and Steve Sweeney in lead roles. The movie follows the story of four criminals, Gary, Dee, Terry, and Dodger, who rob a security van carrying millions of pounds and attempt to launder the money through a corrupt lawyer under the guise of a tanning salon business.

Gary (Robert Carlyle) is the leader of the group and a psychopath with a short temper. He is also in a romantic relationship with Dee (Lesley Sharp) who is also a part of the gang. Ray Winstone plays the role of Terry who is Gary's cousin and seemingly the muscle of the group. Steve Sweeney portrays the character of Dodger who is the one who comes up with the tanning salon plan to launder the money.

As the story progresses, tensions between the gang members start to rise as they begin to suspect each other of betrayal. Gary's unpredictable and violent behavior threatens to tear the group apart, and Terry is forced to make some tough decisions to keep the plan on track.

The characters in the film are complex, and their relationships with each other are explored deeply, giving insight into their motivations and backstories. The movie touches on themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the limitations of friendship in the criminal underworld.

The film's tense and suspenseful atmosphere is heightened by the excellent cinematography and the well-crafted score by John Murphy. The robbery scene and subsequent car chase are particularly exhilarating, and the tension continues to build as the group attempts to outsmart the police and launder the stolen money.

The performances by the lead actors are superb, with Robert Carlyle delivering a standout performance as the volatile and unpredictable Gary. Ray Winstone and Steve Sweeney also give excellent performances, and Lesley Sharp, who has a smaller role in the film, makes a lasting impression with her portrayal of Dee.

Overall, Face is an intense and gripping crime thriller, with a great script and some excellent performances. The film explores the dark and dangerous world of the criminal underworld, and the consequences of greed, betrayal, and violence. If you're a fan of crime thrillers, then Face is definitely worth a watch.
