"I Was A Male War Bride" (1949) is an American comedy that is based on Henri Rochard's biography. He was a Belgian man who got married to an American nurse. In the movie, Rochard is a French officer ordered to work with a female American officer. After some set-tos and misadventures, the two fall in love and get married. When the American officer is ordered to go back to the United States, Rochard naturally wants to accompany her. The only way to do that, though, is through the War Bride Act which allows the spouse of a soldier to accompany them.
