Watch Little Birds
The story of two fifteen year old girls growing up in a tough world was directed, and written by Eigin James. Lily and Alison live in a rundown trailer park on the west coast. On the shores of the Salton Sea they move into adulthood. Lily (Juno Temple) hates her life and wishes to leave her town that is going nowhere. Alison (Kay Panabaker) is perfectly happy in what she deems a safe environment. The girls meet three street kids, and Lily gets Alison to follow the boys to Los Angeles. The girls enter a world that is dangerous, but exciting. The reality of the real world has the girls working with the street thugs in order to survive. The girls get involved with a online scheme that draws unsuspecting victims into the hotel room only to be robbed. Alison is the only one with common sense and tries to convince Lily that they need to leave, but Lily is in love with Jesse (Kyle Galiner). Lily and Jesse feel they have a lot in common, and share the unfairness of their lives. Lily's mother (Leslie Mann) sits at home worrying about the girls. Their innocence is quickly lost in such a harsh world. Surrounded by the degrading thugs, Alison is treated horribly by Jesse's friends and seems to be the only voice of reason. Even though Alison attempts to get Lily to listen to her all falls on deaf ears, and Lily horrifically ends up raped. The girls are returned to where they started, battered and scarred. The world of the trailer park and the safety it provides. The film is based on the reality of author Eigin James's life, and his bringing to light the life of the homeless youth situation. The tragedy, drama has a running time of one hour and thirty-four minutes, and is rated R. There is some language, and violence. This film is for a mature audience only.
