Detectives Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell) and Ricardo Tubbs (Jamie Foxx) are both on the job with the Miami Vice Squad. Most of their cases involve the development of undercover characters for the purpose of bringing down the bad guys. There are times when they must question where their undercover identity crosses the line with who they are, but that only serves to increase the intensity of some of the cases they work on. Crockett gets a call from a confidential informant after 6 months, only to be offered some unsettling news that they may be having their final conversation. A call to the local FBI office confirms that their CI is on an assignment for that department. Alonzo is the CI that only gives up the FBI after his family is tortured, followed by an initial “meet and greet” that goes bad. With nothing else to lose, Alonzo takes his life by jumping in front of a moving semi. The detectives are now tasked to work with the same FBI office that lost their operatives, and they are not happy about it. In order to get closer to the group of drug dealers they need to be invited, and they do this by hijacking a shipment and destroying a couple of fast speed boats used to bring the shipments in. After setting up new identities, Crockett and Tubbs must fly to meet the new boss in Haiti where they are tested and eventually invited to transport future shipments for the South American cartel. Transportation of the first shipment is being handled by Crockett and Tubbs through an aircraft flown by Tubbs. The shipment goes off without a hitch, but the squad tell the cartel that someone tried to hijack the load, and they manage to save it, along with another load that was taken a few weeks earlier. Directed by Michael Mann, this drama also stars Li Gong as Isabella.
