"What happens if it actually works?"

Primer, a 2003 film, is a drama taking place in modern times featuring psychological and science fiction elements. Aaron and Abe are the main characters who work with Phillip and Robert as engineers in a large corporation. The four men also run their own side business in Aaron’s garage manufacturing and selling JTAG cards. The men argue, disagreeing on what type of project to do next, resulting with Aaron and Abe venturing on their own technological development.

The main characters experiment with a device that decreases the weight of an object. The device works, producing an unintended effect, causing an object inside the first box to exist in a temporal state 1300 times the amount of normal time. Abe further reasons that time travel may have accidently been discovered and secretly builds a second box to contain himself. Abe uses the second box and visits Aaron to reveal and prove that time travel is possible. The two men build yet another third box making use of both time machines to succumb to human nature and make money on the stock market.

Aaron and Abe further take advantage of time travel after understanding the scope and power using the boxes. Unfortunately, Granger comes on the scene causing issues. The two main characters also must figure out what to do about their multiplicity problem. Furthermore, the two engineers contend with each other over the failsafe device. The constant iterations and resulting effects puts Aaron and Abe to the test, whether to enforce or desist in moral judgment.
