The movie is about a young man, Matt Weston, who works for the CIA, operating a safe house in a foreign country. He spends his time keeping the house on lock down, only allowing those people in who have business there questioning prisoners of various sorts. At one point, the house he is charged with is infiltrated, and he is forced to go on the run. Weston begins to think that things may not be as black and white as he once thought they were. He must then sort out who is on his side, and who isn't. This journey takes him on a wild ride where he is constantly on the move, and looking for answers. He has to make those choices accordingly, as whatever he does has the potential to put those that he cares about the most, in the greatest danger. This is a central theme throughout the film, as Weston struggles to protect his girlfriend, played by Farmiga, while still dealing with the situation he has found himself in. Weston does all he can to get to the bottom of what is going on, and often pursues the same people who are pursuing him. There are a lot of action scenes in the movie, as the majority of the story involves Weston and Frost dueling with each other.
