In the 2011 crime thriller film "Setup," three friends from Detroit, Vincent (Ryan Phillippe), Sonny (50 Cent), and Dave (Brett Granstaff), plan to steal a shipment of valuable diamonds. However, their plan goes awry, and they end up getting double-crossed by one of their own, Dave. Dave hires hitman Jack Biggs (Bruce Willis) to kill Vincent and Sonny and take the diamonds for himself.

The beginning of the movie shows us the characters' backstories, highlighting the reasons behind their actions. Vincent is a young man trying to go straight after spending time in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Sonny is a gun-runner looking for any chance to make money. Dave is a wealthy man born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who wants to feel the excitement of dangerous adventures. Jack Biggs is portrayed as a ruthless hitman, ready to do whatever it takes to get the job done, including killing a young girl.

As the story progresses, the audience can see their relationships with each other slowly deteriorate as they fight to survive. Meanwhile, they must avoid being caught by the federal agents who are hot on their trail. The tension ramps up as the characters are put into dangerous situations, and each decision they make could be their last.

The movie is set against the backdrop of a gritty, industrial city that seems to be casting them out, making the characters feel even more desperate to succeed. The atmosphere lends itself to a sense of foreboding, as the audience knows that things are only going to get worse for the main characters.

The action scenes in "Setup" are intense and well-executed, giving the audience a realistic depiction of violence. The gunfights and car chases are supported by a thrilling musical score that heightens the tension throughout the movie.

The performances in the film are strong, with each actor playing their role convincingly. Ryan Phillippe's portrayal of Vincent as a young man torn between his desire for revenge and his desire to leave his criminal past behind is especially noteworthy. Bruce Willis, while not having a tremendous amount of screen time, is impressive as the cold-blooded assassin Jack Biggs.

Overall, "Setup" is a movie that will appeal to fans of the crime thriller genre. It has an engaging plot that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, coupled with excellent cinematography and action scenes. Its themes of betrayal, double-crossing, and criminal desperation give it an authentic feel.
