Stephen King's The Stand, directed by Mick Garris, is a thrilling 1994 miniseries based on King's 1978 novel of the same name. The story is set in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic called Captain Trips, which has wiped out over 99% of the world's population. The remaining survivors find themselves divided into two groups: one led by the enigmatic and menacing Randall Flagg (Jamey Sheridan), and the other led by the kind and compassionate Mother Abagail (Ruby Dee).

Gary Sinise plays Stu Redman, a tough and pragmatic Texan who is immune to the virus and becomes Mother Abagail's right-hand man. Molly Ringwald plays Frannie Goldsmith, a pregnant young woman who joins Mother Abagail's group after her family succumbs to the disease. Laura San Giacomo plays Nadine Cross, a troubled woman who is drawn to Randall Flagg's dark charisma.

As Mother Abagail's group travels to Colorado to make a stand against Randall Flagg and his followers, they face a series of harrowing challenges and encounters with other survivors. Along the way, they meet Nick Andros (Rob Lowe), a deaf-mute drifter with a heart of gold; Tom Cullen (Bill Fagerbakke), a mentally challenged man who becomes Nick's best friend; and Ralph Brentner (Ray Walston), a cantankerous old man who provides some much-needed comic relief.

Meanwhile, Randall Flagg's group of followers includes the cruel and sadistic Lloyd Henreid (Miguel Ferrer), who delights in inflicting pain and suffering on others; the psychotic Trashcan Man (Matt Frewer), who is obsessed with setting fires; and the beautiful but dangerous Nadine Cross. As Flagg's group prepares for a final showdown with Mother Abagail's group, tensions rise and loyalties are tested.

The Stand is a gripping and suspenseful miniseries that explores themes of good and evil, hope and despair, and the power of faith and belief. The ensemble cast delivers excellent performances, particularly Sheridan as the charismatic and enigmatic Randall Flagg, and Dee as the wise and benevolent Mother Abagail. The production values are also impressive, with stunning cinematography and haunting music that create a sense of atmosphere and dread.

Overall, Stephen King's The Stand is a must-see miniseries for fans of King's work and anyone who enjoys gripping, post-apocalyptic stories.

Stephen King's The Stand is a 1994 drama with a runtime of 5 hours and 59 minutes.
