The Fifth Element

The Fifth Element is a science fiction movie. It is mainly based in the twenty-third century although the beginning starts in 1914. The movie is about a battle between good and evil. The Great Evil appears once every five thousand years and attempts to change the balance. The Great Evil is portrayed in the movie as a ball of black fire about the size of a planet. The only weapon that exists to defeat the Great Evil are five elements. Four of the elements are stones and the fifth element is a woman named Leeloo. She first appears in the movie as a hand, although she is resurrected from the DNA inside the hand by the government. Leeloo escapes and falls into a cab that is driven by a man named Korben Dallas. He takes her to a man who is the priest that is searching for the elements. The priest learns that the Diva Plavalaguna was entrusted on the stones. Leeloo and Korben are sent to retrieve the stones from her to keep them from falling into the hands of the Great Evil who wants them destroyed. When Leeloo and Korben retrieve the stones, they go back to the Egyptian temple with the priest. They quickly arrange the stones but, Leeloo will not go through with releasing the light. In experiencing the violence that has happened due to the forces of the Great Evil attempting to stop them, she believes that there is no hope left for humanity. Korben is able to convince her to release the divine light to save the Earth. The Fifth Element has the largest indoor explosion which almost ran out of control. The movie was directed by Luc Besson. By the time that the filming was finished he and Milla Jovovich could have an entire conversation in the language created for the movie.
