The Italian Job

"Get in. Get out. Get even."

The movie The Italian Job is a tale of greed and revenge, based around a group of professional criminals that specialize in pulling heists. The story begins during a heist in Italy when one of the group's own betrays them when Steve, played by Edward Norton, shoots and kills the lead of the group John, played by Donald Sutherland, and then takes the loot that the group stole all for himself, leaving the others to die, although everyone but John does survive the ordeal.

The story flash forwards to the current day in Los Angeles, when the group reconvenes looking for revenge and another big heist. New group leader Charlie, played by Mark Wahlberg, has convinced the daughter of their deceased leader, Stella, played by Charlize Theron, to join the group as their new expert when it comes to opening safes. Stella is reluctant to join in on the heist, but because the group is going after their partner Steve, the man who murdered Stella's father during their last heist, she agrees, joining Charlie and the rest of the group: Handsome Rob, played by Jason Statham, Lyle, played by Seth Green, and Left Ear, played by Mos Def.

The gang tracks down Steve, as he is still attempting to steal the gold bullion he stole from the group back in Italy; however, they give away that they are planning to steal the gold back from him. Tipped off that his former cohorts are after his gold, Steve plans to move his gold to a safer location. Getting wind of this plan the group quickly organizes a scheme to take back the gold while Steve is moving it.

What unfolds is an intricate and entertaining heist attempt throughout the streets and subway of Los Angeles, as the group not only tries to regain their gold but seek revenge on a former friend turned enemy. The Italian Job combines great action with a great cast, making it a fine film.
